Ahhhhh yes. It’s so nice to finally be going through a squat renaissance! Week two of my four day programming went swimmingly well. That doesn’t mean it was easy, but I felt really good about it.
Once again, the big thing wreaking havoc on most days were the finishing circuits. Here’s a bit more detail on how the week unfolded:
While I may be going through a squat renaissance with my training, there’s sadly no renaissance happening with my nutrition.
This week was off by quite a bit, most of which is my fault. My daily meals weren’t so bad. In fact, I hit my macros every single day. Howeverrrrrr I also cake just about every single night and those were not part of my macros haha.
Katie and I also ate out for dinner on 8/19 to celebrate her birthday. We went to a local restaurant, sat on their patio while the sun was setting, and ate ALL of the handmade pastas. I ain’t mad about it, but it didn’t help my waistline!
Saturday was also off. We went to Katie’s dads house for dinner to celebrate her step-moms birthday. While I did probably eat more than I should’ve, I also didn’t eat much other than protein throughout the day.
I know I can be better and I will be. I’m getting some new photos done in mid-October so I have to be!
Thankfully my stress levels this week were a lot better. I think it helps that I had some job leads to look into. I’m not one that enjoys asking for help, but I think putting my job search out there on Facebook helped a lot.
Right now I’m trying to take the job search one day at a time and not let it stress me out. The best I can do is keep applying. If I don’t get any calls or emails back, it’s completely out of my hands. At least I’m trying.
I still find myself tired most days, but my mindset is definitely a lot better. I’m trying my best to focus on positivity. One of the major changes this week that I realized is that I was NOT doing my daily meditations/gratitude. I’m not sure why I didn’t do them, but I’ll get back into the swing of it next week.
I do enjoy those daily meditations even if it’s for the sake of having 10mins of the day where I’m solely focused on whatever the topic of the day is.
Sleep is still good, but I feel like I’m slowly starting to slip. There were a couple of days where I only got 7 hours of sleep. I also noticed I’m starting to wake up in the middle of the night more frequently. It’s always around the same time, too; 3:30-4am. Sometimes I’m able to fall back asleep right away, other times it takes awhile. I’m hoping that’ll stop soon.
No pics this week! Once again, I’ll likely only post pictures every 4 or so weeks since some of the changes are so minimal from week to week that you’d never notice the physical change.
Feel free to check out last week’s post for numbers. Measurements were exactly the same so nothing new to report here.
I can definitively say that I really hope my squat renaissance continues! It’s the lift that’s always given me the most trouble and where I’ve felt the weakest so I will take all the gains I can get here.
I’m absolutely dreading my day 3, which is my deadlift day. It’s not because of the deadlifts, though. I have to finish off with a crazy squat progression that’ll have me doing 110 squats at 50% of my 1 rep max; 55 front squats followed by 55 back squats broken down by 10 reps followed by 9 reps followed by 8 reps and so on all the way down to 1. My squat renaissance will really be put to the test!
The rest of the week looks challenging, but nothing I can’t handle. The other big difference going into week six is that I’ll be doing all four days back to back.
Katie and I leave for our socially distant vacation on Friday 8/28, so I won’t be able to take my usually Wednesday rest day. It also means I likely won’t be working out in week seven, but that remains to be seen…
That’s all I’ve got for ya this week! As always if you’ve got questions let me know! Happy to cover anything you’re curious about that I may not have talked about here.
